Stock Market Drama

Dear Clients and Friends,

The stock market does not usually make headlines, and when it does it is often due to extreme conditions affecting the market as a whole, such as markets hitting all-time highs or suffering dramatic declines. However, there is currently a very interesting story that is developing in a small corner of the stock market, only affecting a few smaller companies, but with lots of complexity and drama.

If you haven’t yet heard about the drama between the social news website Reddit and several hedge funds, involving companies that were previously largely ignored by the market, it is worth looking into. The issues at play are actually quite intricate, and not really as simple as many of the more sensational news articles I have read would make them seem. So, in case you were interested in reading about the drama from a more professional point of view, we wanted to pass along an article written by Brad McMillan, the Chief Investment Officer of our partner firm Commonwealth. You can read the article here.

If you have any thoughts or questions about this curious piece of current events, please reach out to us. We hope you enjoy the link, and have a great weekend!

Best wishes,
